"A few differences in sporting terms you should know are:   "Hockey", in the UK is generally understood to refer to field hockey.   If you want to talk about ice hockey, say "ice hockey".   Similarly, "riding" is the term used for horse-back riding, and skiing refers to snow-skiing rather than water-skiing."
