Chapter Excerpts
The book is organized for maximum user-friendliness. I cover many areas of British life in twenty-two chapters. Each chapter has a sort of glossary at the end, but I'm not aiming to include every different word that might come up in the UK, - only the ones that will be totally meaningless to Americans. I also give readers a relevant resource guide at the end of each chapter, in the form of extremely useful web sites.
Here's a list of the chapters to give you an idea. Click on the chapter for an excerpt and summary:
1. Regions and their Differences
2. Words That Guarantee Confusion
3. Words That Guarantee Embarrassment
4. Words That Guarantee Giggles
13. Managing with Small Children
17. Weddings, Funerals and Everything in Between
